Friday Links

It feels GOOD being on a regular blogging schedule. Here are some links to entertain you for the weekend!

Suitcases as planters on English Muse.

Cinemagraphs on your iPhone? Yep, they finally made an app for that.

Diana Mini vs Holga 135bc? You be the judge

Did you know Nan Lawson is doing the cover for the second issue of Gadchick cover? Sam does a great interview with her here!

I used to hate the color pink, I can go on and on how the gender specification is crammed down women’s throats as young girls, but now it’s my favorite color. It’s associated with femininity, but I think it’s empowering, sexy and fun. Nicolette shares here thoughts (and awesome pics) here.

I’ve been wanting to visit Salvation Mountain for years, and Natalie was lucky enough to capture some amazing pictures of it here.

Up and coming blogs deemed by Alt Summit. There goes your weekend.

Imagine a world without reading? No, thank you.

What are you doing for the weekend? One of the perks of being a gadget hog is being able to giveaway some old gadgets. I’ll be tearing up my garage and office looking for an old netbook for a friend in need of a computer. It feels good to put them to good use.

I do love the suitcase planters but something makes me cringe a little, thinking about putting soil in them!

Oh also Diana Mini vs Holga 135bc? links to an image instead of (Rhianne’s?) post.

I used to feel the same way about pink. (And also dresses. I went to Catholic school and had no choice but to wear a skirt, so I wore shorts under my skirt every day so I could play football with the boys at recess.) Then I realized I look good in pink. And in dresses.

And if it makes you feel any better, less than 100 years ago pink was considered a “boy” color and blue was a “girl” color. So if you could go back in time, your love of pink would be viewed as nonconformist. ;-)

I’ve had an empty suitcase ($3 at goodwill) sitting in my garage for MONTHS and couldn’t think of a use for it. LOVE THAT IDEA.

I loved reading Nicolette’s pink post, and even your take on it but for some reason I still can’t get over the stigma of it. One day I will. I want to embrace it!

Great shares and I’m with you on the pink… not always a fan, but definitely one of my favorite colors now that I’m all grown up.

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend, I’m home fighting cold. No fun.

  • a word without reading is a scary, scary thought.

my weekend was spent getting my hopes up about a super good deal on an awesome (bigger!) little house THREE MINUTES from where i work. & then having them crushed when i realized that the neighborhood was sketchy as hell.

BUT… also full of tons of fun time with my mister.

you win some, you lose some.

Oh you should so go to Salvation Mountain! I live about 30 minutes from there and only went for the first time last year. It’s pretty cool, although I’m so sad that Leonard Knight was recently checked into a home in El Cajon. :(

salvation mountain looks inspiring! i need to look it up – now!
and that photo of the pinks is beautiful :) i hear you on why you didn’t like pink – it’s never appealed to me. but it’s too soon to tell how it may come to grow on me as life undresses.
