Sneak Peak of Home
The house we purchased was built in 1907. It’s been kept in amazing condition but cosmetically, it’s not our style. It’s been a long process of a lot of phone calls, emails, cancellations, and even no-shows on the construction part to get how we want our home, but I’ve discovered it’s worth the wait. It’s really hard to complain when I’m still in the “honeymoon” phase of being a homeowner. Here are some bits of what I’m calling home now.
We have books everywhere. We wanted the living room to be like an old library- dark, cozy, regal, and filled wall to wall of books. When we got married, there was this unspoken marriage of our book collections as well. It’s so good to slowly have them come together. We chose a royal navy to set the tone of the living room. This library sign was also fitting, it’s one of the first things you see when you walk in.
Lime green office door with purple walls? Yes, please. Who says I have to stare at a blank white wall to work? Some love simplicity, we thrive on colors that stir our minds.

I’m collecting before and after photos on my point and shoot, and it’s hard to make a home look beautiful and clean with so many boxes everywhere. It’s also a little hard to share photos of your own home by still being private. I don’t know how some bloggers do it, it’s a vulnerable part of my life because it’s so new; I’m still not sure I want to share with readers where I live. I’m slowly building a relationship with my house, it seems a little soon to just share it when I barely know it. Does that make sense? I hope so. More pics (slowly) coming soon.

WOW on that door and wall… you're so brave! Love that bookend too.♥ séciawww.petiteinsanities.blogspot.com
This show & tell will suffice for now. I love it all.I understand it must be difficult to share such a private part of your life, but it's also a part of who you are, and you've done a great job of sharing this whole time.
Yes, it makes sense… but I love what you HAVE shown us.
I totally understand the privacy deal – I selfishly am wishing, however, that we'll get lots of pictures because I'm madly in love with how boldly you have decorated! I am so curious to see more! (especially the living room – we want to do something similar to what you described so I want to see how your vision came to life!)
I <3 YOU and can't wait to come and visit someday.xxx
i love your sneak peek diana. your home sounds like ours, lots of books everywhere. there's no space for them in our little rental though so we still have some in boxes! ugh, i really need to learn to edit down. love your bold use of color too. can't wait to see more!
I love that bookend! So clever and cute. xo, rvhttp://aneclecticheap.blogspot.com/
Looks gorgeous! Can't wait to see more!
I've been seeing all your lovely updates through instagram. Love the pops of color (pink kitchen? YES) I love how you're making the house completely yours. Edited down to home-y perfection.xo
These are great photos! Can't wait to see more of your home. It seems like it's really amazing. Love it.
love this! yay for library living rooms xo
Lookin' good!! I love that your living room is the "library." That's how our den is. It has dark wood paneling (which, under any other circumstances I'd hate) and built-in bookcases. We have a couple of super-comfy recliners in there, as well as all our musical instruments. It's such a cozy place to curl up with a book and some hot chocolate or tea.
It's coming along beautifully! I've really been enjoying peeking at your nesting progress, keep em coming!http://thecharleygirl.blogspot.comxxoo
such bold choices for the walls, wow, you guys are solid… I love it!
I love the use of colour. We are moving back into my place in a few weeks & want to paint the walls. I've been looking for inspiration, but all the mags & blogs only have boring white walls with cushions or curtains for colour. Please show a few more pics of your colourful walls, their beautiful
Ooh thank you for the sneak peek into your lovely home! The colors, sign, and Marc Jacobs fun are so you! Isn't that the most important thing about taking your time to decorate your home?xoxo,Chic 'n Cheap Living
we, too, have books everywhere. i think creative book storage is an art. i love your curtains. excited to see more!
i love the bookend
and share what you want. i'm just wanting to see the bookshelves
i'm obsessed right now & i think i've decided on some built ins.
more pictures, diana! your house looks soooo fun from just this glimpse!
Looking good, Diana!! I love the library sign.
wow it's so fun seeing little corners of your home! the library sign is perfect, and your description of your living room sounds exactly how i'd like mine to look (if i could just keep myself from bringing home too much kitsch!) xo!
It looks great so far! I LOVE all the bright colors
I love the door colour!
Ahhhhh I want to see more!
Love that library sign! How perfect. Your vanity is super organized… I need to get mine looking like that. Inspiration.
Those curtains are so pretty!
your house elements are beautiful. i love all of the color used
I love your color choices! Really bold and brave choices, that's what I like.
I love the pictures you shared so far! Can't wait to see more and I totally understand what you mean about posting pictures of your home while still trying to be private. I'm still not sure if I want to keep the pictures up of my home. Aaron and I first looked at a CB2 when we went to LA a couple months ago. I'm so in love with that store! Love that bookend too
<3
Thanks for the snippets of inspiration! I don't comment often, but I have been following along in your home-buying journey
We're also in the process of buying a house, so I know exactly how you feel. I love your honesty in the DIY post a few posts back. I find myself reading all these design blogs and watching unhealthy amounts of HGTV and it’s easy to romanticize the whole DIY /blogger thing. But as I always say, everything ain’t for everybody…and that’s perfectly ok. You keep sharing as much as you see fit. I, for one, will keep reading and following along in your exciting journey
I totally get the privacy thing, but if you don't post more pictures of that pink kitchen I will cry. Maybe you can email them to me?? I work at a kitchen design center and everyone chooses the most boring things. I swear the designers would fall over in their chairs if someone came in for a pink kitchen.
I love this peak into your home! Have you been following along with Tatiana's cabin transformation? The kitchen is gorgeous.
I am in love with the "library" sign.
I love it! I can't wait to see it {and you} IN PERSON soon! <3
It makes perfect sense. Your privacy is most important. That said, the little glimpses you have shared into your new space are great. I love the colors, especially the navy blue in your living room/library (two thumbs up for that sign!).
Oh man, I love your green door.
